The Very Best In Stand Up is presented by Straight Up Comedy in conjunction with Nantwich Town Council.
Things are going off with a bang at November’s show as we welcome four more top acts to Nantwich Civic Hall for another Very Best In Stand Up.
At MC, we have Edinburgh based Liam Withnail. In the short space of a few years, Liam has worked his way up to an in demand comedian right across the UK and also a regular on Radio Scotland’s ‘Breaking The News’ aswell as numerous other TV and radio appearances. On stage, he is the regular MC at the award winning Monkey Barrel comedy club and his most recent show ‘Chronic Boom’ embarked on his first UK tour.
Like Liam, we have another act taking to the stage for the first time in Matt Price. Cornish comic Matt is a likeable and engaging storytelling comedian who has intertwines interesting tales with some fantastic jokes and humour. Matt started his career when the government came up with the New Deal system to help people find work and Matt used it after two years on the dole to carve a career in stand up. Cue to today and it’s taken him all over the world - from Abu-Dhabi to Australia, From Norway to, well, Nantwich.
In our middle section we have the talents of El Baldinho. Making it through after four yes votes and being described as an act in the spirit of Tommy Cooper, El Baldinho has worked his way up through the comedy club scene and some of you may have seen him when he brought his daft but clever act to the Civic on New Years Eve a couple of years ago. His act is a delightful and funny set merging comedy with some trickery and a whole lot of laughs.
Closing our show we have another comic based in Scotland and making a return to play for us in Mark Nelson. Mark has just finished recording his most recent stand up special Getting Better Man and will be touring once again in 2025. Amongst Mark’s strength is his ability to deliver pure comedy in a set of well crafted and sometimes fearless jokes. He’s made appearances on BBC’s ‘Have I Got News For You’ and continues to be considered as one of the UK’s premier comedy circuit names.
